Accessibility Statement
IEPvocate exists to help families of children with disabilities, so we want it to be usable by everyone, including parents and caregivers who have disabilities themselves. If anything on this site gets in your way, please tell us and we will help.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.
What we've done
- A "Skip to content" link for keyboard and screen reader users.
- Every interactive element, including pricing plans and tool cards, can be reached and used with a keyboard.
- Visible focus outlines so keyboard users can see where they are.
- Pop-up windows are labeled for screen readers, keep keyboard focus inside while open, close with the Escape key, and return focus to where you were.
- Form fields have visible, programmatically associated labels.
- Text and interactive colors chosen for readable contrast.
- Images have text alternatives.
- Full Spanish-language support, with the page language set correctly so screen readers pronounce content properly.
- Your results and tools can be saved as a PDF using your browser's print function.
Known limitations
- Scanned IEPs: scanned and photographed IEPs work, but blurry, faint, or handwritten pages may not be read accurately. Large scans are shrunk in your browser before upload. If your IEP won't upload or read correctly, contact us and we will help you find a way to use it.
- AI-generated content: reports, letters, and chat answers are written by AI, and their structure (such as headings and lists) can vary.
- Checkout: payments are handled on Stripe's hosted checkout page, which we do not control. If you have trouble paying, contact us and we will help.
- Testing: our accessibility work has been reviewed internally against WCAG 2.1 AA. We have not yet had an independent third-party accessibility audit.
