This started with love.
I built IEPvocate because of one of the reasons I fell in love with my wife — her extraordinary compassion for children who are often overlooked or dismissed simply because they need a little extra help. Watching her pour herself into her students, advocating fiercely for kids that the system sometimes moves past too quickly, I knew her work deserved to reach further than one classroom.
We thought about the parents on the other side of those IEP meetings. The single parent sitting alone at a kitchen table at 11pm, staring at a document full of terminology they don't understand, wondering how they're going to find the right therapist, the right program, the right support — on top of everything else life is already demanding of them.

No — everything is generated from your child's actual IEP, so it's specific to their disabilities, services, and goals. "What actually happens to my child's IEP?"
Your document is read once by our AI provider (Anthropic) to build your report. That first read includes everything in the PDF, like your child's name, birthday, and school. We then discard it: we never store it or keep a copy. After that first read, our tools work from a summary built to leave out your child's name, school, birthday, and contact details. Julia wouldn't have built this any other way.
"Can't I just use ChatGPT for this?"
You could — but a general chatbot doesn't start from your child's actual IEP, and it doesn't come with tools built for IEP meetings: meeting questions, advocacy letter drafts, communication templates, and responses for when the school pushes back. That focus is the whole point.
